Many blogs won't allow comments unless you have an account on Google or Wordpress or some other site. So I created a Google account (and this placeholder blog) in order to be able to comment on the blogs of others.

Welcome to the Blog! A few bits on names...

After looking at all the other blogs on the web, I decided to try it out myself. I already have plenty of websites (including "the Betsy page" located at brws.com/betsy.html) There's not that many Betsy's out there, but I've found a lot on the web (after growing up without knowing another kid named Betsy. The other Elizabeths (and not many of those) went by "Beth" or "Liz" or the full "Elizabeth". I'm always pleasantly suprised when I see another Betsy on a nametag or byline.

The most common spelling is "Betsy", but there are also Betsi, Betsey, Betzi and even Betcei. Haven't seen a Betsee yet but I'm sure that's coming. Variations Bitsy and Bootsy appear sometimes. Also nicknames "Boo" and "Roo".

Do you ever notice names "clumping"? All the Sherry's I know are married to David's. But some of the David's are married to Lisa's. Jeff and Linda is another common paring. How many girls to you know that have "Anne" or "Ann" as a middle name?
